WeSpeakOut at the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva


Masooma Ranalvi, Convenor of WeSpeakOut, and Durga Nandini of Change.org spoke on a panel about FGM/C in India today at the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva.  They were invited by the Global Alliance Against Female Genital Mutilation to report on what is happening in India.

FGM/C exists in India for real, it is not imagined. Evidence proves its existence within the Bohra community with a population of nearly 2 million, as well as in some other communities. 80% women in the community have had FGM/C; I am one of the faces behind that statistic.
